This former Illinois Bell Building on the University of Chicago campus was re-envisioned as the home of the Toyota Technical Institute and the University’s IT Department through a complete interior and exterior renovation including new finishes, MEP services, telcom, and IT systems. An atrium was introduced to provide light and vitality to the interior spaces and to promote departmental communication through a series of interconnecting bridges. The project is a case study that shows how an older tech-centered building can adapt from the analog to the digital era through a sustainable design solution.
