Roosevelt High School, Gary, Indiana included on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places

Arda is proud to support Indiana Landmarks and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to envision viable re-use or re-purpose plans for the potential future redevelopment of the 700,000 square foot Roosevelt High School constructed in 1930.

“Now in its 37th year, the National Trust’s annual list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places continues to be a powerful, galvanizing tool for historic preservation, with over 350 sites listed and only a handful lost.

This year’s list exemplifies the National Trust’s continued commitment to telling the full American story, with a diverse array of sites both inside and outside the continental United States. These places mirror the complexities, challenges, and opportunities that have always been part of what it means to be American—and each have stories that are deserving of attention and care.”

Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument Established

The Arda team is honored and humbled to lead the restoration design of Emmett Till’s childhood home in the Woodlawn neighborhood, and the site of his funeral, Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ, in the Bronzeville neighborhood.  Both Chicago landmark structures are tangible representations of a pivotal moment in our Nation’s history.  The restoration of both buildings to their 1955 condition will support the legacy of Mamie Till-Mobley who dedicated her life as an educator and activist to the memory of her son.
