Griffin Museum of Science and Industry

As one of the few remaining buildings of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, the Palace of Fine Arts, now the Museum of Science and Industry, is one of Chicago’s best-known landmarks. Several phases of restoration work, funded initially by a Save America’s Treasures grant, have addressed exterior conditions at the museum’s iconic domes and caryatid porches, as well as the building’s expansive limestone façade and magnificent granite entranceways. These restoration projects help assure that this great edifice will continue to delight future generations as they visit the museum and discover a part of the greatest event in Chicago’s history
